MacNaughton of Edinburgh Classic Scottish Round Action with Stunningly beautiful and Original Damascus Boxlocks 12 gauge |
3893 3028 |
|
This is a super elegant round action from Scotland with gorgeous nitro proofed Damascus barrels. Stunning Damascus pattern. Did I mention how beautiful these barrels are?
These trigger plate actions remove a large amount of wood from between the action so to strengthen it this gun has had a pin put cross wise across the head of the stock to prevent cracking. It was professionally and elegantly done with horn covers. The butt has a 1" horn extension. A super price for a sound and beautiful round action. |

Great barrels on this droplock. We can cut the long extension down to any pull you would like shorter to leave a checkered butt. We could also remove the extension and install a best leather pad for a 14" LOP. If one opened up the right barrel to near cylinder this would make an awesome upland bird gun. |

Winchester Model 21 ~ haven't you always wanted one of these? ~ Boxlocks 12 gauge |
4261 1387 |
|
This gun is tight and field ready. Well, Da! It’s a Model 21! These stout guns were designed and made to last. The IC choke in the left and the cylinder in the right is a great combination for upland birds. It is what I use. It might be great for steel shot also. When I was in college at WSU and about 20 years old I lusted for one of these which I found in a gunsmiths shop in Pullman Washington. It was about $2000, about six semesters tuition then but a guy could dream. My tastes have changed since then but if your heart yearns for the classic American double gun here is a chance to own one for not much more than I would have had to pay in 1978. Many in my world have since heard me joke about the best use for a Model 21 being for a boat anchor, or an extra paddle if you lose one... ...but in all seriousness I do respect these guns as I cannot deny they are well made and will digest almost any of the ammunition that can be found on the hardware store shelf. Something I admit many of our English guns cannot do. |

During the off season with its high stock this English double would make a great sporting clays gun also. William Ford is a very respected English gunmaker. Located primarily in Birmingham the business opened about 1884 and ended approximately in 1946 When William passed. Ford was well known for his choke boring (creating choke) and is in several references listed as the inventor of choke boring. |

C.S. Rosson of 13 Market Street Derby ~ A very elegant little English gun for the $ Boxlocks 12 gauge |
3461 41150 |
|
Update! Jason and I cannot figure out why we still have this gun as it is in wonderful condition. Sometimes the market makes no sense and our clients miss the bargains. To confirm our suspicions we took this light little English shotgun out to the clay field to put her through her paces. We were both extremely impressed in how well the gun performed and felt so well balanced and so at ease between the hands. This gun is a bargain. C.S. Rosson was a very well respected maker in England during their day. This is a very nice little 6 1/2 pound game gun which would make a super first English double. It is in very nice original condition, has great stock dimensions, crisp trigger pulls, and is well balanced. The full choke in the left with cylinder in the right is a common English choking and was effective in driven shooting. If one opens the left barrel to a light modified and leave the right barrel as is this gun would be a fabulous upland bird shotgun. We can arrange for this and the cost is only $70. |

These Webley boxlocks are to me like the Winchester Model 21 of England. Well made and stout with the exception that I believe the Webley is actually better balanced in general. This gun with its tight chokes could be used as is for tight and long shooting but remember if you don't want tight chokes we can have the chokes opened to anything you would want for only $70.00 per barrel. The 2 3/4" Nitro proofed chambers make this gun very versatile in the USA. The semi beaver tail forend I believe to be added later in the guns life, probably while here in the USA. This addition has obviously been done professionally as it is extremely well done. |

As you can see in the pictures this Manufrance is in wonderful original condition having seen very little if any use. The only negative I see is a little light pitting on the outside of the barrels from I suspect a damp case somewhere in its past. The case colors are near 100%!
< Manufrance used the mono-block barrel design to build what we now know from the Italian designs to be one of the strongest methods out there. You can see this in the pictures where the barrel has a slight step 3" from the breech. This gun is extremely tight. It operates like it was never completely broken in it is so tight. The chokes are very tight but remember for only $70 per tube we can open them to anything you would want down to cylinder. If you use as is this would make a tremendous turkey gun! |

I obviously changed my mind as I found the gun tight on face with nice bores. The trigger pulls were good. The wall thickness was great and the barrels still had all their choke. In other words, this gun is ready to go and will give many more years of faithful service! Its like the 20 year old horse we had that went on to live to over thirty! Looks can be deceptive. ? Use the gun as is as a great backup gun or do an easy restoration. It is up to you. Either way this is a great gun for this kind of money. | |||

C.G. Bonehill boxlock from the late 1880's with great features Boxlocks 12 gauge |
4344 241 |
|
Built in the late 1880's this lever cocking boxlock is really quite a beautiful gun. For a gun of this period it has many features such as the Purdey double under bite, an extra bite in the rib extension similar to the Westley Richards patent and also unique cocking indicators. The gun is tight and ready for the field. While the bores show some light pitting/haze they are basically bright and have tons of wall thickness so this could be removed with a back bore if one wanted mirror bores. This gun has a fairly short length of pull but could be made to 14 3/8" with a 1" recoil pad. |

Manufrance Ideal Grade 2R ~ This is the Classic French Round Action Boxlocks 16 gauge |
3557 18276 |
|
Built on a unique but 100% trigger plate action this is a gun that I have always been intrigued with. I like everything about them except for the safe which is located to the right and left of the trigger guard. It functions fine but I don't find them as ergonomic as the top safe. So, despite the safety, I still shoot, promote and get excited about these guns as they are worth having, shooting and appreciating due to their great balanced round action and features. This grade and higher feature a rising bite third fastener similar to the coveted Rigby rising third bite. The pull back lever behind the trigger guard opens the gun and is extremely ergonomic. It is out of the way and very easy to operate. |

Manufrance Ideal Grade 2 with nice long barrels and LOP Boxlocks 16 gauge |
3559 30318 |
|
Very pretty wood (a restock) on this little Ideal with nice long barrels. This grade does not feature the rising bite featured on some higher grade Ideal guns but it does have the classic double under-bite with the true trigger plate action. I see some epoxy bedding material in places where the wood meets the action but this will not in anyway affect performance and allows us to sell this gun at a much reduced price. There is some light pitting in the bores which could be removed but if it were me I would take this light lady afield just as she is and enjoy her doing what she does best. |

Midland Gun Co. Birmingham England ~ A rather plain but solid English 16 with elegant 30" barrels and 2 3/4" Nitro proofs Boxlocks 16 gauge |
4343 97037 |
|
This is a nice little 16g.. It is not very often we find an English 16g. with 2 3/4" proofs. The bores have excellent wall thickness and are bright with only the slightest haze in them. This would make a great upland gun. *If a longer length of pull is needed a pad could be easily added for a LOP up to 14 1/2" |

Charles Boswell complete with Briley 20 gauge full length tubes with interchangeable chokes Boxlocks 20 gauge |
4272 11546 |
|
This Charles Boswell dates from the early 1880's. It is suspected that Boswell started his serial number records at 10,000 which would make this example a very early gun. Very few of these early Boswell guns have survived. Unfortunately this example was poorly cared for and someone let the inside of the barrels get quite pitted. The good news is someone in its past spent near a thousand dollars to have Briley full length 20 gauge tubes installed resulting in bringing this old dame back to life. With the high stock this would make a great Vintagers competition gun or a hammer sporting clays gun. |
