Classic Dickson round action. Great wood and dimensions. Light! These guns just blow me away as they are so elegant and suave and can you believe this was in 1881? I suppose a beauty then is a beauty today. Are we talking about woman or guns? Doesn't really matter! :)

Charlin 12g. ~ The only Sliding Breech gun to own~! ...read why......
Boxlocks

Due to excellent marketing the most famous and well known sliding breech guns were built by Darne in France. I always appreciated the unique way of loading the barrels but always found the Darne built guns to be hard to operate. I learned to properly operate a Darne one needs to be very assertive with it when opening. As another way to put it, to open a Darne, one needs to really "horse" it.

There were other sliding breech makers besides Darne like the one we offer today by Charlin. Charlin did not build near as many sliding breech guns but in my opinion, they built the best. The Charlin guns you do not need to "Horse" as they operate as smooth as silk. When I first heard about the Charlin guns over thirty years ago I was told that the Charlin guns were so smooth because they incorporated small ball bearings in the slide. This always made sense to me until a gunsmith told me once he had a Charlin apart and that he found no ball bearings in the gun! This Charlin we offer today is in wonderful condition. The case colors appear original and are excellent as well as the bores. If you have always wanted a classic sliding breech gun this is a rare opportunity to own what many of us consider the very best ever made.

A very nice example with lots of case color remaining and very tight. The bores are excellent.

I have a client that has one of these and he has had the chokes opened up to .015 left and .010 right to shoot Tungsten and also steel shot on waterfowl with great success.

Very American dimensions on this Scottish boxlock. With zero cast it could be shot by a right handed or left handed person. It is tight on face and field ready.

The current issue of Shooting Sportsman (January-February) has a great article about these Scottish boxlocks by Douglas Tate. See page 54. To sum the article up the Scottish makers spent extra time and effort to make their boxlocks superior and unique from the average Birmingham gun.

This is a very nice little English boxlock with very nice barrels and plenty of choke which is good if you want it or can be opened to anything you would like.

*Note the cast off is 1" which is more than normal but would be perfect for the person that has a large beard or face that would require this. It is possible it could be bent half and inch or more.

*Note the beautifully scalloped action!

Manufrance Ideal Grade 2R ~ This is the Classic French Round Action

Built on a unique but 100% trigger plate action this is a gun that I have always been intrigued with. I like everything about them except for the safe which is located to the right and left of the trigger guard. It functions fine but I don't find them as ergonomic as the top safe.

So, despite the safety, I still shoot, promote and get excited about these guns as they are worth having, shooting and appreciating due to their great balanced round action and features. This grade and higher feature a rising bite third fastener similar to the coveted Rigby rising third bite. The pull back lever behind the trigger guard opens the gun and is extremely ergonomic. It is out of the way and very easy to operate.

Dealing in mostly vintage guns this was the first of these I have seen having this gun recently come into the shop on consignment. I have to say I am relatively impressed with what modern CNC technology can do and at least on the used market find this to be an excellent value for a 20g. that can digest up to 3" factory ammunition.

The case colors are very attractive on this example. This gun is in near new condition with only the most minor handling marks on the stock.
