This great eight is in great condition! Still some case color left in places the gun is tight and on face. Field ready for what? I think they are legal for Turkey hunting! Just plain fun to have in the gun room this behemoth is not a delicate flower but a very likable brut! We have enjoyed having this in the shop to show off but know it is your lucky turn to share with your friends. |

Charles Daly Prussian 10g. in excellent original condition ( G. Lindner gun) Hammerguns 10 gauge |
4833 1691 |

This is a stout Prussian Daly built by G. Lindner. His guns are considered some of the best sporting guns produced by Germany during his time. I would estimate this gun to be built in the early 1890's. This gun locks up vault tight with excellent Damascus barrels which are nice and bright with only an extremely light frost on the inside. *Note the beautiful Damascus pattern! |

McCririck 12 ga hammer double from Kilmarnock Scotland circa 1870's ~ Nitro proofed! Hammerguns 12 gauge |
4279 25508 |

McCririck started business in 1839 in Kilmarnock Scotland, the home of Johnney Walker Scotch whiskey which was started in 1825. Excellent wall thickness and very tight this shotgun could be used as is or with a light restoration become a show piece as it has very pretty wood and engraving. By design I can tell you this gun was made in the 1870's. *The hammer pulls are butter like, just like on the best Purdey hammer doubles. The bores are bright and shiny with minor pitting places. What a cool little .410 with the heavy 3" nitro proof. This gun started life as a rook rifle in England and due to the laws there making it more difficult to own a rifle was converted to a shotgun and reproofed. It is great as that but also we have a wonderful man that by lining the barrel makes them back into a rifle again. He did a Holland rook for us into 38 special and it came out beautiful and was super accurate even at long distance. This service only runs about $400.00.

Purdey built for an American NYC socialite for quail hunting on the family Georgia Quail hunting plantation ~ Still in its original trunk maker's case Hammerless Sidelocks 12 gauge |
4782 24625 |
|
Purchased by New York City socialite Cynthia Meldrum Chapin in 1932 for the sole purpose of dove and quail hunting on her husband's Georgia estate. This gun is still, as the initials show, in its original maker's case. The stock dimensions are different now so at some point it was re-stocked and the quality of the work suggests to me it was done by Purdey. The condition of this super light Purdey is very high with over 90% original case color and blue. What a lovely gift this gun would make to be appreciated and put in the field by another American woman! Check out the Purdey invoice where it lists Mrs. Chapins address as "38 Wall Street, New York" and the bill due was 325 pounds. A large sum for a shotgun in the middle of the great depression between the great wars. Purdey records show: No. 24625 Completed: October 1932 For: Mrs. C.M. Chapin Description: A lightweight hammerless ejector game gun Weight: 5lb. 14¼oz. Calibre: 12-bore (2 5/8in. Case) Barrels: 26in. Whitworth Choke: True Cyl & Tight Cyl Stock: 13 5/8in. James Purdey & Sons in outstanding condition featuring magnificent chiseled leaf fences ~ Can ship direct, no FFL Hammerless Sidelocks 12 gauge |
4741 12316 |
|
This lovely Purdey is in top notch condition having been recently rejoined and detailed by legendary gunsmith Reto Buehler. Reto's middle name is "fine detail" and these guns beyond justify this praise. Pre 1899 means we can ship direct. Our Purdey letter tells us this London BEST shotgun was completed in December of 1885 for Surgeon Major G.F. Pollock. The letter also states that Purdey fitted new barrels to this gun, 12316, in the late 1940's. These are the barrels that are fitted to the gun now and they are in excellent condition. Beautiful bright clean bores with long forcing cones This shotgun is in outstanding condition, tight on face, and field ready. There is about 30% case color remaining and the blacking on the barrels is in the 98% or better. All engraving, including the name and address on the rib is as crisp as the day it was cut. *Note the outstanding sculptured leaf fences! |

What a lovely London sidelock from circa 1900. F.T. Baker guns I have noted over the years tend to have exceptional engraving and this one is no exception. This gun offers excellent modern stock dimensions and chokes that will kill clays or birds with regularity. *This gun was proofed for 2 1/2" but because for many years 2 1/2" shells were not available in America its chamber was lengthened to 2 3/4" so it could be continued to be used here in the USA. The Holland "Climax" or "Dominion" grade sidelocks like this are a favorite of mine as they have a wonderful radiused, almost round action and tend to be very well balanced. This example, built in the mid 1880's has great wall thickness and choking and is tight on face and field ready. There is some very light pitting or hazing in the barrels but nothing of any consequence. *Note the beautiful English walnut stock! |

I like how these imperial grades handle. Actually, I like how most all the Churchill 25" guns handle. They feel like your swinging a much longer barrel gun. Leech & Sons Sidelock ~ Not many have heard of this maker but... ...check out the dimensions and the wood! Hammerless Sidelocks 12 gauge |
3872 5869 |
|
This small maker claims they have been in business since 1795!
A well-made sidelock that won't break the bank compared to buying one of the big four London makers. This gun features wonderful engraving and a Purdey style hidden third bite. Note the Long LOP extendable with a pad to near 16". The triggers are a bit soft for my liking but useable. We could recommend a gunsmith to crispen them up if they are not to your liking. |

According to A&N existing records this fine sidelock was completed April 9th 1934 by W.C. Scott and sold to J.E. Sealy Esquire. This gun is tight on face and field ready. A great value in an English sidelock with good stock dimensions and super wall thickness. |

Army & Navy Sidelock built by W.C. Scott ~ a well-made gun at a great price Hammerless Sidelocks 12 gauge |
3959 49538 |
|
Existing Army & Navy records show this sidelock was built in 1908 by W.C. Scott. Great dimensions and I really like how this gun opens and closes. It feels like a gun that would be appreciated in the field.
*You know this old girl has seen plenty of service and she does show some scars in handling marks in the wood and blue thinning in places. She would be a great candidate for a light restoration or used and appreciated as is. This gun I noted when first operated did not have auto ejectors. I really like this as having auto ejectors is really one more thing to go wrong and truly in the upland field unnecessary. I will get some flack over this, I am sure! I will agree to disagree. |

Norman & Son of Framlingham ~ A very nice Sidelock with 2 3/4" proofs at an excellent price Hammerless Sidelocks 12 gauge |
4884 2135 |
|
This small maker was located in Framlingham, a small village south of Norwich and North of Ipswich near the east coast of central England. The maker Bengamin Norman was born in 1833 and apprenticed to be a gun maker in 1847. Our gun was built in the early 1900's. There is a good amount of history to found online at: https://www.internetgunclub.com/archived-forum/posts.php?topicid=1270 This Sidelock is in nice condition and features 2 3/4" nitro proofs and chokes perfect for upland hunting. The top rib is of the Churchill style. The barrels are newer as indicated on the barrels being from Bengamin Wild. The gun is tight on face and field ready. *Note the lovely engraving on the breech of the barrels. |

Wm. Atkinson & Sons~ Lancaster, Kendel, and Morecambe ~ A lovely 30" barreled English sidelock for a great price Hammerless Sidelocks 12 gauge |
3465 3155 |
|
This gun features nitro proofed 30" barrels with mirror bores. Other features include auto ejectors, tight on face barrels to action, and excellent modern stock dimensions cut from a very nice piece of English walnut. The left choke is tighter than many (like me) might want it but remember we can have chokes opened very reasonably. Also, if you need a longer LOP we can provide excellent English style leather covered pads up to 1". This is a very nice example of an English sidelock. It is well balanced and feels great between the hands as any well made gun should. I did not know much of this maker so I did some sleuthing on internet and actually found quite a lot: Built between 1901 and 1905 by address's on rib William Atkinson was the son of Joseph Atkinson of Lancaster. He was born in 1851. By 1871 William had joined his father in the business in Lancaster, but in about 1874 he opened his own business at 52 Stricklandgate, Kendal, Westmoreland; in about 1878 this moved to 8 All Hallows Lane. There may have been a branch of the firm in Preston. In 1874 William and his wife (Eleanor b. 1850) had a son, Joseph Harvey Atkinson, and in 1876 another, Arthur Falder Atkinson (both born in Kendal), they both worked in the business as gunmaker's assistants, there were also had two daughters born in Kendal, Edith (b.1873) and Maud (b.1878) who appear to have worked in the business. In 1881 Joseph Atkinson retired and William took over the business in Lancaster re-naming it William Atkinson. In about 1885 the firm moved to 20 Market Street, between 1890 and 1901 they took over the adjoining premises at 18 Market Street. Between 1890 and 1894 the business in Kendal moved to 58 Highgate. Joseph Atkinson died in the late 1890s, and in 1900 the firm Lancaster business was re-named William Atkinson & Sons. By this time the firm had a substantial trade in bicycles. In about 1901 a branch was opened at 11 Skipton Street, Morecambe, Lancashire. This was probably run by one of the sons, it appears to have closed in about 1905. Between 1901 and 1905 the Kendal business became known as Atkinson & Griffin, it appears to have ceased trading in 1925. Between about 1905 and 1909 the firm in Lancaster occupied premises in North Road. In about 1935 the firm moved to 26 Market Street, Lancaster, but the Lancaster business appears to have closed in 1940. In 1955 Thomas Atkinson & Sons was recorded at 19a Stricklandgate, Kendal. Thomas Atkinson was certainly related, perhaps only distantly. The firm appears to have closed in about 1985. |

P. Webley Sidelock with nice dimensions ~ A bit thin in the tooth but in proof and priced accordingly ~ Great features and free shipping! Hammerless Sidelocks 12 gauge |
4664 50170 |

P. Webley was the company that joined with W.C. Scott to form Welbey and Scott, one of the largest English gun makers in the English gun making history. In my experience the P. Webley guns were all of very high quality. This gun is in proof and thin minimum walls are out near the muzzle where they should be and where there is very little pressure. We have priced this gun attractively for this reason and if you are interested in this gun, I suggest you call and buy it so you can examine it in person and take advantage of our five day inspection and free return shipping if it does not meet your needs for any reason. *Note the weight which is the same as most English 16g. guns. |

W.W. Greener Model FH35 ~ This is a very original Greener with 2 3/4" proofs Boxlocks 12 gauge |
4670 66640 |
|
Lots of condition on this classic Greener FH 35. *Note the amount of original case color. Looking from the breach end the bores look clean bright and shiny. Looking from the muzzle end I see in 6-8 inches some light pitting which could be removed with a back bore but I would not bother as it is very minor. |

This great English boxlock has been given a new life with newer barrels by esteemed Scottish gunmaker John Dickson and Son. They are in excellent condition and measure perfectly. Westley Richards boxlock with very nice nitro proofed Damascus 30" barrels and gun weighs only 6 lbs.! Boxlocks 12 gauge |
4845 8951 |

Built in 1906 this light 12g. is very tight on face and has very bright bores. The stock dimensions are great for many. The left choke is over tight in choke but we could have this opened up to what you would want for an additional $75.00. If you don't care for stock extensions like the one on this gun always keep in mind we can remove this and you can have a recoil pad installed in its place. |

Excellent bores on this classic Wilkes boxlock from 1897. We have a special connection here at Vintage Doubles with John Wilkes as our workshop has two of the original gun vises which built guns for so many years in their workshop. We use them almost daily. This gun could have been built on either of our vises. With the extension this is too long for many. We can easily pull this and arrange a pad to your LOP. |

William Powell built nice guns and this one while rather plain is in excellent condition. The case colors are over 50% and the barrel blue in the 90% range. The bores are bright and shiny and show no dents or dings. It is tight and on face and field ready. For a gun with 28" barrels and a decent LOP this gun is light at 6 lbs. 3 oz. Great barrels and wall thickness on this James Lang. I note that she has bushed firing pins, a higher grade feature. *This has great choking for upland game, wood cock, and grouse. Westley Richards we found in the back of our vault ~ Jim said did the cat drag it in from the sewer? Boxlocks 12 gauge |
4707 T9140 |
|
We found this in the back of the vault and thought we should find a home for it. Actually tight on face and in proof. The bores are bright and shiny. The minimal wall thickness is thicker than most in fact very thick for this vintage shotgun. That's the good points! Sadly the barrels in the second half towards the muzzle have considerable pitting probably caused by being put away wet in a case. The stock has numerous handling marks. The wood could be easily refinished but striking the barrels you may only get about 80% of the pitting. Or you might get it all. It is very functional as is so I would use it as a rainy day gun and do nothing to it! |

Gustav Kerstan 16 ga. with unique lock up ~ For the shotgunner that likes to show up with something completely different! (But effective!) Boxlocks 16 gauge |
2983 13637 |
|
This is one of the most unique side by side shotguns we have ever had in the shop. Many have heard of the "Kerstan" rib extension extra bite. This patent is still in use today by Merkel on their best over and unders. This Kerstan marked example is a double Kerstan bite on a horizontal profile. An extremely strong and unusual prewar 16g. side by side that weighs under 6 lbs. but carries 29" Krupp barrels. The condition is quite good although there is some light pitting in each bore. I have shot this gun and I have to say it handles extremely well. This is from my personal collection, and I often referred to this gun as my "Hammer head shark" gun! |

Manufrance Ideal Grade 2R ~ This is the Classic French Round Action Boxlocks 16 gauge |
3557 18276 |
|
Built on a unique but 100% trigger plate action this is a gun that I have always been intrigued with. I like everything about them except for the safe which is located to the right and left of the trigger guard. It functions fine but I don't find them as ergonomic as the top safe. So, despite the safety, I still shoot, promote and get excited about these guns as they are worth having, shooting and appreciating due to their great balanced round action and features. This grade and higher feature a rising bite third fastener similar to the coveted Rigby rising third bite. The pull back lever behind the trigger guard opens the gun and is extremely ergonomic. It is out of the way and very easy to operate. |

Army & Navy 16g. boxlock ~ very light with long barrels with modern dimensions Boxlocks 16 gauge |
4971 14167 |
|
If you know me at all you know my favorite gauge for the field is 16g. I just returned from shooting wild pheasant and quail in eastern Oregon and I cannot tell you how pleased I was on how my little 16g. performed with 7/8 oz. of shot. If I did my part they dropped dead. No flapping, no running. This little gun, perhaps with a little tuning of the chokes, would make an ideal upland bird gun. This gun was built between 1896 and 1900 so am researching it and if it was made before 1899 we will be able to ship direct to most states instead of to an ffl. |

James Woodward & Sons 20ga. Single Shot ~ Elegance in miniature! From 1898 Boxlocks 20 gauge |
4803 5230 |

This is a wonderful little 20g. and by James Woodward to say the least. Actually, that says it all as it is a beautiful gem of the quality we would expect from Woodward. Built about 1898 this gem can be shipped direct. Yes, the stock is short but at four pounds the gun balances and comes up to fit a small person (child undoubtedly) so what a great first gun for the small person in your world. The other option is to have it restocked to fit you! On this type of gun that would not be horribly expensive. |

What a great little double gun. C.S. Rosson was a great maker in Norwich England on Rampant Horse street. Wonder how that street got its name? This gun was built between the great wars in 1933. The LOP could be lengthened with a recoil pad to make the LOP almost 14 5/8". The right side of the action the wood has been properly reinforced with dowels to strengthen the stock. |

Featuring near 90% original case color and near perfect bores this is a stunning little hammer double rifle. No markings on the gun indicating caliber but the measurement's of a the chamber cast show it remarkably close to our 38-55 Winchester so there is very good chance this brass could be used. See scan of chamber cast and measurements. Keep in mind that chambers are usually slightly over size to actual brass dimensions to prevent sticking.

Kreighoff Drilling in 12ga x 9.3x72R ~ Bright bores and sharp rifling Drillings, Double Rifles, and Rifles Caliber |
4857 11225 |
|
This is a pre WWII Sempert and Kreighoff drilling in good condition and field ready. We do have some of this brass in stock and I believe some dies also for reloading for sale here in the shop. The 9.3x72R was before WWII the most common center fire boar/deer hunting cartridge in Europe. I have heard it said it is the "30-30" of Europe as it was so common but in ballistics it is a much better brush (100 yard or under ) cartridge than the 30-30. The 180-220 grain bullets certainly throws a much better punch at about 2000fps. The bores on these drillings are typically .360 and many have found the American 35 caliber bullets work very well in these guns. Do note that some of the commercially available ammunition has bullet dimeters of .366 should not be fired in these pre war guns. The brass can be used however and in most cases fits perfectly. |

Hosford and Co. Wall thickness gauge Men's Collectibles 10 gauge |
1158 |
|
This wall thickness gauge, complete with table clamping barrel vise, is the most accurate wall thickness gauge that we are aware of for the money (the next more accurate gauge is digital and costs over 2K). This gauge will measure 4 gauge through .410. It may look intimidating to use but let me assure you it is not. The secret and success of this gauge is in that the barrels are easily held suspended by the table clamped barrel vise. The gauge, once zeroed is slid over the barrel and quite easily moved back and forth while one just watches the gauge to read the actual barrel wall thickness. There is no math to do. The ingenious barrel holder allows you to easily rotate the barrels allowing you access to areas of the barrel near the ribs. On the vertical gauge this is quite difficult but on this gauge very easy. This gauge also has the feature of a finer pointed tip on the gauge allowing you to measure inside many pits. I cannot stress the value of having a quality wall thickness gauge if one is a serious collector and purchaser of high end double guns. THE FIRST GUN YOU REFUSE AS A RESULT OF USING THIS GAUGE PAYS FOR THE GAUGE MANY TIMES OVER. If you do not understand the significance of the last sentence, please reread it. We will not make any significant money selling these gauges. It is our intent to have educated buyers. It is our belief that our client’s best interests are also ours. Most all of our best clients already have this gauge but I would like to see all of our clients with one. These gauges were designed and hand built by Jon Hosford, a natural engineer, double gun lover, collector, and wing shooter (not to mention his appetite for fine red wine, scotch, and good food!)
See Jon's gauge in use and learn how to use it on youtube by typing in a search on youtube: “Hosford & Co., Shotgun barrel gauge, Part 1” or clicking this url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jQZn4kohH4 Please contact Jon to buy: https://www.hosfordco.com/tools-measuring-1/wall-thickness-guage info@hosfordco.com 734-769-5660 |

Dibold Bank Vault out of a Wenatchee bank Men's Collectibles Other |

This is a large vault out of an old bank near us. We have been storing it inside for years thinking we would build it into a new building for our business. We have decided this will not happen so need to move this along to someone that will use it. This would make an awesome walk in gun/valuables safe or use the door and frame for a walk in vault room. This is a bargain and am selling it for basically what we have in it as we need the space. It is open and unlocked. The combination can be changed by a professional locksmith we were told when we purchased it over ten years ago. It is very heavy being 4K to 6k pounds so a heavy duty truck with a fork lift would be needed to pickup. condition: good make / manufacturer: Dibold locks size / dimensions: 49.75" W x 40" D x 86" H
