G.E. Lewis Massive 8 bore double "The Gun of The Period" ~ Want a really big gun?
Hammerguns

This is an excellent example of an classic English water fowl double. Nice bores and tight this gun is marsh or turkey terrain ready! (Hey, Hell may freeze over and our politicians may revoke the 8 bore gun ban for water fowl shooting). As I understand it, the law made sense when it was created as their was no harvest limits then but when limits were the new law, the bore size law became obsolete but was never revoked.

Most English double or single 8 bores we get in are basic unadorned lower grade guns but let me be clear this gun is not that way. This gun is much higher quality in all ways. The wood is higher grade, the engraving is exceptional, and the barrels are beautiful and struck perfectly. Their is 16"of lettering down the rib expounding on all the awards this maker has won. This is a golden opportunity to own a high grade English double eight. Remember, their is never anything wrong with having the biggest gun in the room. :)

*Note the great high and modern stock dimension and also the 37" barrels!

* We have some unfired 8 gauge hulls to go with this gun. Free shipping anywhere in the lower 48 states.

Born in 1863 this wonderful display of what Purdey could do is a joy to hold, shoot, and admire. When I got use to the Purdey patent thumb lever I really learned to appreciate how easy it is to operate. It is almost a self opening hammer gun! Very ergonomic.

The gun is perfectly tight on face and has bright shiny bores and the barrels were nitro proofed in London in 1997.

Call me and let me get this gun and hand and tell you all about it.

Exceptional 12g. 30” barreled Harris Holland of 98 New Bond Street London. Yes, this is the firm as we all know as Holland & Holland. Harris had a nephew Henry Holland which was an apprentice to the firm and when Harris retired in 1876 he took Henry as partner and changed the name to Holland & Holland. Wonderful history but what is really important here is they made and still make some of the best guns in the world. This example is in excellent condition. Featuring 30” highest quality Damascus and much case color and finish remaining, with bores that make mirrors jealous. This example is a gun that one can appreciate for its quality, its history, but most of all for how it feels and swings between the hands. RST shotgun shells would be perfect for this wonderful shotgun. See them at www.rstshells.com. Once you start shooting a quality hammer double you won’t look back. A true bargain .

James Woodward top lever rebounding hammer London double ~ It is nitro proofed, cased, and ready for the field

This is a super hammer gun by one of my favorite makers. What makes it so great? Balance, beauty, and function. I really appreciate the snake like top lever on this gun. I don't believe I have ever seen this before on a Woodward.

*Note the modern stock dimensions. The LOP could be easily be lengthened up to an inch with a pad. We can have installed English style leather covered pads for only $400.00. We also offer choke modifications if you are like me and prefer more open chokes.

James Purdey (they own James Woodward) kindly provided us this information on this gun:

Woodward, No. 3458 Completed: 13th October 1875 For: George Bryan Esq., MP Description: No. 1 of a pair of centrefire hammer guns Weight: 6lb. 13oz. Calibre: 12-bore Choke: (Not Recorded) Stock: 14 5/16in. Notes: The buyer would appear to be George Leopold Bryan, MP for County Kilkenny between 1865 and 1880, which was also the year he died.

We don't see these very often and if you need one you should grab this one up as it is a tight gun, in proof, and ready to shoot. Jason and I both lifted this gun to our shoulder with our eye's closed and it came right up with the left eye looking straight down the rib.

*There is some light pitting in the right barrel but nothing deep and was certainly was there when it was nitro proofed.

Lefaucheux - 16g Hammer Double ~ This is a high quality shotgun with Nitro proofed barrels

This is a classic French Lefaucheux action with English nitro proofs. The interesting thing is that it was certainly made in France, Germany, or perhaps Belgium but we can find nothing but the English nitro proofs on the gun. Their is no makers name on the gun.

There is some minor pitting in the bores but nothing really deep. The wall thickness is massive so one could have it back bored to remove the pitting or shoot it the way it is.

This is a very attractive and quality hammer double for this kind of money. I love the elegant hammers!

Strong Damascus barrels with tons of barrel wall this vintage 16 would be fun to play with in the field. Never a high grade gun it is however a fairly well made gun with quite a lot of condition. Take a look at the pictures and see all the original case color still left on the locks. The right hammer is a well done replacement. If it were engraved to match the left hammer it would be hard to discern.

This Charles Boswell dates from the early 1880's. It is suspected that Boswell started his serial number records at 10,000 which would make this example a very early gun. Very few of these early Boswell guns have survived.

Unfortunately this example was poorly cared for and someone let the inside of the barrels get quite pitted. The good news is someone in its past spent near a thousand dollars to have Briley full length 20 gauge tubes installed resulting in bringing this old dame back to life. With the high stock this would make a great Vintagers competition gun or a hammer sporting clays gun.
