Great wall thickness and chokes will make this classic and long barreled Scott a great waterfowl or wild Turkey gun. *Note the beautiful wood and Damascus pattern.

This gun shows well the classic Scott patent of the crystal window cocking indicators. The glass window allows one to see the gold plated hammer when the gun is cocked. When fired the window is dark. I have always thought this feature to be way cool!

A. Chapu ~ Stunning from pre-WWII Paris BEST quality Sidelocks ~ We all know the best things come in pairs........
Hammerless Sidelocks

This along with our number 3967 is a fabulous pair of Shotguns. Quality of a Boss, Purdey, or Holland Royal’s this pair is a joy to hold , fondle, and at a price much less than what the others would certainly cost you. BEST quality features include chopperlump barrels, double seared locks, bushed firing pins, and articulated front triggers.

Featured in what I believe to be their original retailer’s trunk case these guns are in outstanding condition. The weight and choking combined with their original 2 3/4" chambering make these guns an excellent choice for sporting clays or the hard dying Montana, Dakota's and eastern Oregon ringnecks.

Our wonderful client and French gun expert Martin provided us the following information on Chapu:

Auguste Chapu was located at 5 Avenue de la Grande Armée, Paris from at least 1895 and likely to the 1930s.

He was a retailer of high end shotguns and was involved in providing guns and ammunition to the pigeon competitors in the Bois de Boulogne, not far from his shop. Consolidation happened first with Lien-Chapu, then Callens bought that concern which became Lien-Chapu-Callens (1933) which in turn became Callens et Modé until the early 1990s.

The Avenue de la Grande Armée shop stayed in all those changes as it is a prestigious location, in close proximity to the Arch of Triumph.

Celestin Modé was a true entrepreneur in the business and had bought by the 1920s most of the Parisian second tier retailers and makers, such as Pirlet, Lefaucheux, Rieger, Rochatte, Beringer, Nouvelle, etc. His address was 91, rue de Richelieu.

To be clear the price is for the pair, both guns in their excellent case.

Henry Atkin worked for James Purdey and proudly stated this fact on his barrels. The barrels on this gun are made from the finest steel of the the period, Sir Joseph Whitworth steel. These are at no surprise the same barrels that Purdey used on their shotguns.

E.J Churchill Premier Grade!~Orange St. Leicester square, London. This is Churchill's highest grade Sidelock
Hammerless Sidelocks

This BEST Churchill sidelock was built between the wars in 1929. This is the period that many experts consider the very best English guns to have been built. Beyond the top of the line craftsmanship this is a stunning example of what Churchill could achieve to make a short barreled gun swing like a long barreled gun through perfect attention to weight and balance.

You might notice that this sidelock has no pins. The top grade Churchill's are what the English trade call "pin less." This is just a further step in the long process of building a BEST gun with the intent to make the gun more attractive by hiding the sidelock internal screws so they do not show on the outside. This allows for more uninterrupted engraving thus enhancing the beauty of the locks.

Tight on face this lovely lady is field ready and will make a "Premier" addition to any ones gun library.

Some of you know me and that I am attracted to quality Damascus guns. This gun pulled me across the room when I saw it in a rack in England. From that distance I could see it was a shotgun of the highest form without knowing the makers name. Much to my delight I found on close inspection a Stephen Grant, one of my favorite makers. The condition of this fine shotgun is very nice and appears in original condition seeing little if no restoration. There is a small stock extension which we could remove and replace with a fine leather covered pad if one would like for a LOP up to 15 1/2"

Completed in 1903 this is a true Edwardian era gun ( Queen Victoria died in 1901 thank you Austin). The gun is found in an original Grant case which also is in very nice original condition.

Does anyone recognize the family crest in the stock?

This is a super elegant round action from Scotland with gorgeous nitro proofed Damascus barrels. Stunning Damascus pattern. Did I mention how beautiful these barrels are?

These trigger plate actions remove a large amount of wood from between the action so to strengthen it this gun has had a pin put cross wise across the head of the stock to prevent cracking. It was professionally and elegantly done with horn covers. The butt has a 1" horn extension.

The real bonus besides the condition is the modern stock dimensions. At 6 lbs. 2 oz. this would make an incredible woodcock, quail, or grouse gun. I also know it would hold its own in the upland fields and cliff sides after Hungarian partridge and chukar.

Stephen Grant. He worked for Boss for awhile and then gave his notice, moved next door, and hung his shingle. In not long he was counted among England's greatest gunmakers. It is said Boss and Grant were on good terms and often shared work when one needed help. I observed an example of this once when I found some filers initials on a Grant that looked familiar. I realized I had seen them on a Boss that I had!

This is a super example of what Grant could do and at a very attractive price. Note the 2 3/4" nitro proofs.

We have had a few Charles Ingram guns over the years and I have always admired them. They were consistently of exceptional quality. I have heard in the trade they were best known in England and Scotland for their exceptional rifles but strangely enough I have never seen or possessed one, only shotguns.

This nicely cased sidelock is in wonderful condition. The rose and scroll engraving is exceptional.

For those of you that perceive you do not like shorter barrels (these are 26") I would love to put this gun in your hands to shoulder and swing. The way that it is balanced it feels like you’re swinging a long barreled gun! I have often heard woman say that length does not matter (Why were they telling me this?) and I think that in this case at least that us men should believe them.

Manufactured around 1913 this wonderful sidelock features hand detachable locks that are removed by simply lifting a small panel on each lock. Since the owner of the gun could see and clean his locks anytime Lang paid particular attention to polish and detail to the insides of these guns which resulted in beautiful lock interiors . Note the gold plating.

Joseph Lang is one of London's most respected gunmakers. He started business in 1821 and now exist as Atkin Grant & Lang. It is interesting that Joseph married one of James Purdey's daughters!

This is an extremely well made London sidelock with great dimensions, great walls, chokes and very beautiful wood. There is a wood extension but appears to be from the original stock and matches perfectly. If one did not want this we could ad up to a 1" Leather covered pad for a LOP up to 15 1/8".

Fredrick Beesley Sidelock !
Hammerless Sidelocks

Beesley is a very old and respected name in the London gun trade. Frederick started his apprenticeship at William Moore & Grey where I am sure he worked with many of the gun makers from Joseph Manton. Men that helped begin the making of high end and quality double guns. Frederick Beesley is most famous for being the inventor of the self opening mechanism that Purdey adopted in around 1880 and and is still in use by them today.

This gun was built @ 1899 and is with its newer sleeved barrels is nitro proofed and field ready.

Thomas Horsley was considered a gunmakers gunmaker being always so highly respected in the trade. There is a wonderful book about him.

This gun has some of the best engraving you will ever see on an English sidelock from this period. With great stock dimensions and nice long barrels with realistically useful choking, this fine sidelock has a lot to offer.

This gun is a true Edwardian gun dating from the dusk of 1905. With Best quality throughout it is hard to find fault with the dimensions, quality of engraving and barrels. The gun is tight on face and field ready. The wood is very beautiful but could if wanted benefit from a new oil finish and restoration of the checkering.

Some, as in myself in certain circumstances, prefer to use and enjoy the gun with the earned patina of time and use. If one would like to have us restore the wood and checkering I am very pleased to say we can now offer that service with the addition of very talented Jason Bartel to our restoration department. This wood restoration we can now do for an additional price of $1000.00. I guarantee the results will be authentic and outstanding and you will be beyond satisfied or you don't have to pay us a dime for the service.

This Hussey, unlike in general its female counter parts, reeks of class. Although just border engraved do not let the lack of makeup fool you! This shotgun is beautiful inside and out, built to the highest standards of the Edwardian era.

Balanced just slightly forward of the hinge pin this shotgun handles perfectly. The bores are bright and clean with excellent walls and the barrels are tight on face. Own a London BEST for a fraction of the cost than if you were to buy a London first name of which the quality would be none better

This is a well made gun but has had some stock modifications done by a professional to fit a specific shooter. It would make a great restock project or just shoot it as it is. This is a shooter as is or would make a great restoration project. The barrel blue is thin. I detect it is ever so slightly off face as with the forend off I can barely detect the slightest wiggle.

On the positive side the barrels ring true and are sound. The wood would be quite beautiful if given a new authentic oil finish.

I have always appreciated William Evans shotguns. While they had their guns built for them in the London and Birmingham trade they obviously required a very high standard with details and quality that set them apart from many other makers. This dedication to quality is certainly a factor in why they are still in business today.

16g. Sidelocks are very hard for me to find so I was extremely excited to find this little gem in the UK and bring it across the pond. The non –selective single trigger (believe me that is a good thing, selective triggers are the ones that give single triggers a reputation for failure) is crisp and works perfectly. Choking is perfect for upland hunting or woodcock or southern bobwhites. I love 16g. and I really like this gun.

Stocked to the fences, assisted opening, iconic and crisp Boss single trigger, chopper-lump barrels, and stunning wood with super dimensions, this Boss has all and more of what we would expect from a Boss. What I expect most of all from Boss is what I think is their true trade mark, “Balance.” Let me tell you, get this gun between your hands and you will not want to let it go as you would feel your letting go of a part of yourself.

Twenty gauge Boss doubles are like prime real estate. They seldom come up for sale, are priced at the top of the market, and there are never any regrets in owning as they are always worth what you paid and more. A solid investment at $57000.00
