Charles Hellis and Sons ~ Check out the engraving and other features of this beautiful little double Boxlocks 12 gauge |
4377 2281 |

People often think the English London BEST sidelock is the most beautiful of the classic double guns but every once and awhile we get a boxlock in that is extremely attractive, handles well, and made with extreme care and craftsmanship. This little Hellis is a perfect example. *Note the 29" steel barrels and the great stock dimensions and chokes for upland game. Very light for a 29" barreled gun at 6 lbs. 6 oz.. |

Akrill of Beverly ~ Check out the game scenes on this super light 12 ~ A light restoration project or just use it! Boxlocks 12 gauge |
3612 H22120 |
|
This is a very light, sound, well made little double while being ready to use as is it would benefit from a chip in the toe repaired, the wood cleaned up, and the checking perhaps picked up. The gun appears tight but I feel it is on the edge of needing a rejoin. We could arrange for this. I was planning to have rejoined and clean up the wood and sell this gun in the 2400 price range but I ran across the gun this morning and realized it has been sitting in the vault for over 6 months and I had not gotten to it so perhaps let someone else have it cheap and enjoy it as is or as a relatively easy restoration project. I really like the little game scenes and the scalloped action which we do not see often. It is slightly cast on now but could easily be bent cast off for a right handed shooter. |

Westley Richards we found in the back of our vault ~ Jim said did the cat drag it in from the sewer? Boxlocks 12 gauge |
4707 T9140 |
|
We found this in the back of the vault and thought we should find a home for it. Actually tight on face and in proof. The bores are bright and shiny. The minimal wall thickness is thicker than most in fact very thick for this vintage shotgun. That's the good points! Sadly the barrels in the second half towards the muzzle have considerable pitting probably caused by being put away wet in a case. The stock has numerous handling marks. The wood could be easily refinished but striking the barrels you may only get about 80% of the pitting. Or you might get it all. It is very functional as is so I would use it as a rainy day gun and do nothing to it! |

Manufrance Ideal Grade 2R ~ This is the Classic French Round Action Boxlocks 16 gauge |
3557 18276 |
|
Built on a unique but 100% trigger plate action this is a gun that I have always been intrigued with. I like everything about them except for the safe which is located to the right and left of the trigger guard. It functions fine but I don't find them as ergonomic as the top safe. So, despite the safety, I still shoot, promote and get excited about these guns as they are worth having, shooting and appreciating due to their great balanced round action and features. This grade and higher feature a rising bite third fastener similar to the coveted Rigby rising third bite. The pull back lever behind the trigger guard opens the gun and is extremely ergonomic. It is out of the way and very easy to operate. |

Dickinson Arms 20g. boxlock featuring factory 3" chambers and in near new condition Boxlocks 20 gauge |
4207 TR J 0422 |

Dealing in mostly vintage guns this was the first of these I have seen having this gun recently come into the shop on consignment. I have to say I am relatively impressed with what modern CNC technology can do and at least on the used market find this to be an excellent value for a 20g. that can digest up to 3" factory ammunition. The case colors are very attractive on this example. This gun is in near new condition with only the most minor handling marks on the stock. |

Ithaca 20g in very nice condition! Circa 1911 and has auto ejectors Boxlocks 20 gauge |

Sensible choking and very nice original condition on this little 20g. This is a Flues model from about 1911. It has auto ejectors. We have just cleaned the bores which are bright and shiny but there is some minor pitting in places in both barrels we have just noted. The outside is very clean, tight, and tidy.

Army & Navy 28g Boxlock Boxlocks 28 gauge |

This is light weight long barreled English 28 gauge boxlock that would be great for rough country. She is obviously not pristine but is tight on face and in proof and field ready. The previous owner did disclose to me while not a through break the gun did develop a crack in the wrist and he had his gunsmith repair and reinforce it. He must be good because I cannot find the repair and I know what to look for. There is some pitting under the forend (see picture) and there is some also in the forcing cone.
